ANAHEIM, Calif., June 11 (UPI) -- John Lackey matched a career high with eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings Tuesday night as the Anaheim Angels edged Philadelphia, 2-1.

Also for the winners, Tim Salmon scored the go-ahead run following his first triple of the season.

Lackey, who has struggled this season after going went 2-0 with a 2.41 ERA in the 2002 playoffs, surrendered just one run, five hits, and two walks.

Salmon tripled to open the sixth inning and scored when Philadelphia starter Brandon Duckworth (3-2) uncorked a wild pitch to give Anaheim a 2-1 lead.
