Chicago Cubs 8, NY Yankees 7

CHICAGO, June 9 (UPI) -- Mark Prior struck out 10 batters and Moises Alou and Ramon Martinez homered as the Chicago Cubs edged the New York Yankees 8-7 Sunday.

Prior (7-2) allowed seven hits and three runs over six innings in his ninth career double-digit strikeout effort. He struck out Yankee Derek Jeter three times.

Andy Pettitte (5-6) was the loser.

Alou hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Martinez hit a solo homer in the second. Jason Giambi homered for the Yankees.
