Rain washes out Senior third round

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa., June 7 (UPI) -- Third-round play at the Senior PGA Championship was suspended

Saturday due to incessant rain, which will force the leaders to play 31 holes Sunday.

The final group was on the sixth hole when play was stopped at 11:53 a.m. EDT. The third round will resume Sunday at 8 a.m., with the final round tentatively scheduled for two tees at 11 a.m. and 12:50 p.m.

Rain is expected to fall into the night in the Philadelphia suburb.

Seiji Ebihara if Japan edged ahead of second-round leaders Gil Morgan and Allen Doyle after completing the first five holes at 2-under par. He is at 4-under as he seeks his first Champions Tour win.
