Arizona 2; Chi. White Sox 1

PHOENIX, June 4 (UPI) -- Shea Hillenbrand scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night as Arizona rallied for a 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.

The game was tied, 1-1, with one out in the ninth when Hillenbrand, making his home debut, singled in his first appearance at Bank One Ballpark since being acquired from Boston on Thursday. The third baseman went 1-for-4.

Lyle Overbay followed with a base hit that put runners on the corners, and Junior Spivey was walked intentionally to load the bases.

A single by Chad Moeller off White Sox reliever Tom Gordon (2-5) knocked in Hillenbrand.

Chicago had the potential go-ahead run on second in the top of the ninth when Arizona reliever Oscar Villarreal (4-3) struck out Miguel Olivo looking to end the threat.

The White Sox wasted a strong outing from starter Esteban Loaiza, who failed in his bid to match Jamie Moyer of Seattle for the major league lead with his ninth win.

The righthander allowed a run and five hits in seven-plus innings, walked one, and struck out eight, but Chicago lost for the sixth time in eight games.
