Royals place RHP Lopez on 15-day DL

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 17 (UPI) -- Kansas City Royals righthander Albie Lopez was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a pulled right groin.

Lopez pitched one-plus innings in Friday's 18-1 loss to Toronto and surrendered two runs and two hits. He has given up 16 earned runs in his last 5 2/3 innings, sending his ERA from 3.77 to 9.90.

The Royals recalled righthander Kris Wilson, one day after he was returned to Class AAA Omaha to make room for righthander Jason Gilfillan.

Gilfillan made his major league debut Friday in relief and allowed four runs and five hits in one inning.

Wilson is 0-0 with a 4.87 ERA in 10 appearances this season.
