Bourdais wins Champ Car German 500

LAUSITZ, Germany, May 11 (UPI) -- French rookie Sebastien Bourdais, starting from the pole, won Sunday's Champ Car World Series German 500.

Bourdais claimed his second straight race of the season by less than a second over Mario Dominguez of Mexico. It was his first triumph on an oval track.

Michel Jourdain, also of Mexico, started and finished third. Bourdais' Newman/Haas teammate Bruno Junqueira of Brazil and Oriol Servia of Spain rounded out the top five.

The race was preceded by two-time CART champion Alex Zanardi, who lost both legs in a horrific accident here almost two years ago, running 13 laps in a specially designed car. It was the same number of laps left in the race when Zanardi crashed while leading in September 2001.
