DENVER, May 7 (UPI) -- Colorado Rockies outfielder Chris Richard will remain sidelined indefinitely after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder Wednesday.

Richard had the shoulder repaired by team medical director Dr. Richard Hawkins in Denver. His arm will remain in a sling for five weeks, after which he can begin rehabilitiation.

Acquired from the Baltimore Orioles for Jack Cust on March 11, Richard is hitting .222 with a home run and three RBI in 19 games. He went on the disabled list on May 1 due to a strained left hamstring.

Richard missed the first four months last season following surgery on the same shoulder.
