
ATLANTA, April 26 (UPI) -- Marcus Giles hit his fourth home run of the season in the seventh inning to break a tie Saturday night and give the Atlanta Braves a 3-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
The homer off reliever Valerio de los Santos (0-2) handed the Brewers their fourth loss in five games.
Giles, who hit .230 in a part-time role last season, is batting .347 with 12 RBI.
Trailing, 2-1, the Braves tied the game in the sixth on Vinny Castilla's RBI single to right field.
To that point, Atlanta had struggled against Milwaukee starter Wayne Franklin, who allowed two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings. Franklin walked four without a strikeout in his best outing of the season.
Former Brewer Ray King (2-0) pitched a perfect top of the seventh got the win. Roberto Hernandez pitched the eighth before turning it over to John Smoltz, who has not allowed a run in 12 2/3 innings this season, for his ninth save in as many chances.
