Dale Brown hospitalized after stroke

BATON ROUGE, La., April 25 (UPI) -- Former Louisiana State basketball coach Dale Brown is resting comfortably at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after suffering a stroke Friday, the university announced.

Brown, 67, who retired at LSU in 1997, was hospitalized after not showing up for a lunch date with LSU associate athletic director David "Bo" Bahn, a manager under Brown in the early 1980s.

There was no indication of the severity of the stroke or how long Brown will he hospitalized.

Brown is the winningest coach in LSU history and the second-winningest coach in Southeastern Conference history behind Adolph Rupp, compiling a 448-301 record in 25 years with the Tigers.

A four-time SEC coach of the year and the 1981 national coach of the year, Brown led LSU to Final Four appearances in 1981 and 1988, four SEC regular season titles and the 1980 SEC Tournament championship.
