
MIAMI, April 22 (UPI) -- Ivan Rodriguez's two-run homer in the eighth inning snapped a tie Tuesday night and lifted the Florida Marlins to a 4-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
The game was tied, 2-2, with one out in the eighth when Rodriguez drove a 1-1 pitch from Valerio De Los Santos (0-1) into the seats in right-center field as the Marlins posted their fourth victory in their last six games.
The 1999 American League Most Valuable Player, Rodriguez was batting just .162 (6-for-37) in his last 12 games. But Tuesday, the catcher went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs.
Reliever Armando Almanza (1-0) gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless eighth and Braden Looper yieleded a walk and a hit before securing his third save.
Alex Sanchez went 3-for-5 for the Brewers, who lost for the first time in three games.
