NY Mets 11, St. Louis 0

JUPITER, Fla., March 26 (UPI) -- Tom Glavine pitched four impressive innings and Joe McEwing homered and knocked in five runs Wednesday as the New York Mets cruised to an 11-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Glavine entered the contest with a 1-3 record and 8.35 ERA in five starts. But in his final outing before he starts the regular-season opener Monday against the Chicago Cubs, the veteran lefthander allowed just one hit with one walk and a strikeout.

McEwing hit a three-run homer in the seventh and Tsuyoshi Shinjo went three for five and scored three runs for the Mets.

Cardinals starter Matt Morris was ripped for seven runs -- four earned -- and nine hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out seven.

Veteran Cal Eldred, trying to earn a roster spot with the Cardinals, gave up three runs in one inning.
