Edmonton 4, Phoenix 3

EDMONTON, Alberta, March 26 (UPI) -- Mike York scored the go-ahead goal 6:09 into the third period Wednesday night and added an assist as the Edmonton Oilers posted a 4-3 triumph over the Phoenix Coyotes to reach the playoffs for the sixth time in seven seasons.

On the power play, York redirected defenseman Cory Cross' right point shot, beating goaltender Zac Bierk high to the glove side for his 22nd goal.

Rookie Ales Hemsky, Radek Dvorak and defenseman Scott Ferguson each had a goal and an assist as the Oilers improved to 8-3


1 in the last 12 games and pulled within two points of seventh-place Minnesota with five games to play.

Defenseman Deron Quint, Daymond Langkow and rookie Jeff Taffe got the goals for the Coyotes, who lost three in a row following Thursday's victory over the Oilers.
