Boston 10, Cincinnati 5

SARASOTA, Fla., March 24 (UPI) -- Nomar Garciaparra and David Ortiz homered and the Boston Red Sox pounded out 14 hits in a 10-5 victory Monday over the Cincinnati Reds.

Garciaparra, who had three hits, had a solo homer in the first and David Ortiz hit a two-run shot in the second off loser Jimmy Anderson, who was tagged for 10 runs - nine earned - and 13 hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Aaron Boone hit two of the three home runs for Cincinnati. He connected with Adam Dunn on back-to-back homers in the first off John Burkett and added a two-run shot in the sixth off Ramiro Mendoza.

Burkett earned the win, allowing two runs and four hits in four innings.
