PEORIA, Ariz., March 22 (UPI) -- Kory DeHaan's RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning capped a comeback Saturday and gave the San Diego Padres a 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
The Royals erupted for five runs in the top of the first inning off Adam Eaton, who lasted just two innings.
Mike Sweeney belted a two-run home run before Angel Berroa hit an RBI double and Carlos Febles followed with a two-run double.
San Diego chipped away, scoring twice in the second on Roberto Kelly's RBI double and a run-scoring single by Sean Burroughs.
Reliever Courtney Duncan stroked a two-run double in the fourth to draw the Padres within 5-4 before DeHaan scored on a groundout in the sixth to even the game.
Alan Webb benefitted from DeHaan's heroics, getting the win after striking out three in 1 1/3 innings. Ryan Bukvich took the loss for Kansas City, yielding a run and two hits while retiring just one batter.
