Atlanta (ss) 6, Cleveland 5

WINTER HAVEN, Fla., March 7 (UPI) -- Richard Lewis and Mike Hessman doubled in the seventh inning to produce the go-ahead run Friday and give a split squad of Atlanta Braves a sloppy 6-5 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

The doubles came off lefthander Alex Herrera, one of several ineffective pitchers for both sides.

Braves starter Mike Hampton gave up three runs, five hits and a walk in three innings and also committed an error. Winner Kenny Nelson allowed two runs and two hits in two innings.

Andruw Jones and Ramon Castro drove in two runs each for Atlanta, which bailed out its pitchers with five double plays.

Indians starter Jake Westbrook worked three scoreless innings, allowing two hits. Former Brave Terry Mulholland gave up five runs and six hits in three innings.

Casey Blake had three hits and two RBI for Cleveland.
