Calgary 5; New Jersey 4 (OT)

CALGARY, Alberta, March 6 (UPI) -- Oleg Saprykin scored with 85 seconds left in regulation Wednesday night, and Martin Gelinas netted his second goal of the game 1:54 into overtime as Calgary eased past New Jersey, in overtime, 5-4.

Calgary had not won two in a row in six weeks, and appeared headed to another defeat after Jamie Langenbrunner scored with 4:33 remaining in the third period, but Saprykin deflected a point shot by defenseman Robyn Regehr past goaltender Corey Schwab to force overtime.

Just 92 seconds into the extra period, Flames goalie Roman Turek skated into the corner to track down a loose puck, but was beaten to it by New Jersey's Scott Gomez, who threw it in front of the net. With Turek scrambling to get back into position, Brian Gionta was poised to shoot into the unguarded goal, but Leopold went down and smothered the puck.

Calgary counterattacked, and Gelinas threw a centering pass from the outer edge of the left circle. Scott Stevens was tied up in front with Jarome Iginla, but the puck hit the right skate of Gelinas and caromed past Schwab.
