IRVING, Texas, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- The Dallas Cowboys Friday reunited Terry Glenn with Coach Bill Parcells, acquiring the veteran wide receiver from the Green Bay Packers for an undisclosed future draft pick.

Glenn, who played just one season in Green Bay, spent his first six seasons in New England after being drafted seventh overall in 1996 by Parcells, then coach of the Patriots.

There have always been questions about Glenn's toughness. When Parcells was his coach in New England, he once referred to the receiver as "she."

One of the reasons Parcells left the Patriots to coach the Jets after the 1996 season was the power struggle with owner Bob Kraft that began on draft day, when the Patriots ignored Parcells' desire to draft a defensive end to select Glenn in the first round.

The feud, which came to a head the week of the Super Bowl, also produced Parcells' infamous quote, "If you're going to prepare the meal, you should be able to buy the groceries."

All appears to be resolved now.

"There's somebody in our building who was real comfortable with him, and obviously he's a great talent," said Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones. "Terry is comfortable with (Parcells) and we think we might have something here."

"Bill was the first guy I called," said Glenn's agent, Jimmy Gould. "We let him know we had permission and wanted to get them back together again. We told him we would renegotiate to help with cap room. We wanted to reunite with the guy who took him to the Super Bowl."

Glenn had his best season as rookie under Parcells, when the Patriots reached the Super Bowl. That season, he had 90 receptions for 1,132 yards and six touchdowns, and in his career, he has 385 receptions for 5,486 yards and 24 touchdowns in 83 games.

Since his biggest season, his numbers have steadily declined and he has had a host of injury and off-the-field problems.

He was suspended four games to start the 2001 season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He returned for one game, and then suffered a hamstring injury, which kept him out of action for six more weeks.

He refused to practice preceding an important game against the Jets that year, forcing the Pats to suspend him without pay for that game.

Glenn, 28, failed to make a major impact in his one season with the Packers, catching 56 passes for 817 yards and two touchdowns.

In Dallas, the 5-11, 195-pounder should start at receiver opposite former Ohio State teammate Joey Galloway. On Wednesday, the Cowboys released veteran wideout Raghib Ismail.
