Ohio State team honored at White House

WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Ohio State's national championship football team was honored by President Bush during a White House ceremony on Monday.

The traveling party to the White House included U.S. Representative Deborah Pryce, whose district includes the Ohio State campus. Players and coaches flew to the nation's capital on Monday morning and toured the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial.

Ohio State (14-0) won its first national championship in 34 years with a 31-24 double-overtime victory over Miami in the Fiesta Bowl. Portland's women's soccer team and the women's volleyball team of Southern California also were honored for their national titles during Monday's ceremony.
