Adrian Griffin goes on injured list

DALLAS, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- The league-leading Dallas Mavericks placed forward Adrian Griffin on the injured list Thursday with left knee tendinitis.

One of the top defensive players on the NBA's best offensive team, Griffin is averaging 4.1 points and 3.3 assists in 50 games, including 35 starts. The 6-5 Griffin often matches up against opposing teams' small forward or shooting guard.

The Mavs also activated veteran point guard Avery Johnson, who has missed the last five games with a right calf strain. He is averaging 3.7 points and 1.4 assists in 32 games.
