LAWRENCE, Kan., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Nick Collison collected 24 points and 14 rebounds and Wayne Simien added 21 and 13 Wednesday night as sixth-ranked Kansas avenged its only Big 12 Conference defeat with a 94-87 triumph over the Colorado Buffaloes.
Kirk Hinrich added 14 points, Aaron Miles 12 and Keith Langford 11 for the Jayhawks (20-5, 10-1 Big 12), who lost at Colorado on Jan. 22, 60-59. That snapped a 27-game winning streak by Kansas in the series.
In this one, Kansas took a 46-38 advantage into the second half after Colorado's Michel Morandais hit a shot from well beyond midcourt at the halftime buzzer. The Jayhawks did not allow the Buffaloes to gain any momentum from the shot, opening the second half on a 24-9 run.
It was the Jayhawks' 20th consecutive home victory over the Buffaloes. Kansas opened a one-game lead over Texas and the winner of Wednesday's Oklahoma-Oklahoma State matchup in the Big 12.
Morandais scored 28 points, Blair Wilson 21 and David Harrison 20 for Colorado (15-9, 5-6), which fell to 0-6 on the road in conference play.
