TORONTO, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Chauncey Billups hit a jumper and a three-pointer in the final 98 seconds and the Detroit Pistons used a huge bench effort Wednesday night to fend off the Toronto Raptors, 89-84, for their ninth win in 10 games.
After a drought of nearly five minutes from the field for the Pistons, Billups made a 15-footer from the right side to give his team an 84-80 lead with 1:38 remaining.
Alvin Williams continued his fourth quarter surge with a basket to get the Raptors within 84-82, but Billups sank a three-pointer with 20 seconds left for a five-point advantage.
Billups finished with 18 and reserves Corliss Williamson and Chucky Atkins supplied 16 and 12 points, respectively, to pace a lopsided 46-12 bench effort.
Morris Peterson scored 20 points and Vince Carter was held to 16 for the Raptors, who have dropped two of three following a four-game winning streak.
