Just 7:13 into the contest, Nash got a feed from David Vyborny and wristed a shot from the right faceoff circle between the right arm and body of fellow rookie Miikka Kiprusoff. It was the 12th goal of the season and first in five games for the top pick in last year's draft.

Defenseman Scott Lachance picked up the other assist for his first point in 42 games with Columbus.

Kiprusoff stopped 27 shots, but the Sharks fell to 0-4-0 on a seven-game road trip. Three of the defeats have been by one goal.
