Forsberg appeared to score in the first minute of overtime, but the referees erased the goal without consulting video replay as the superstar clearly swept the puck into the net with his hand.
Mike Knuble netted the tying goal for the Bruins with 3:21 left in the third period - five seconds after he hit the post with a backhander from in close. Knuble got a second chance and made the most of it, scoring after the ensuing faceoff.
Scott Parker and Forsberg scored in the first period to give Colorado a 2-0 lead. Parker registered his first goal of the season.
Defenseman Hal Gill halved the deficit nine minutes into the second period when his harmless shot from the left point trickled past goaltender Patrick Roy, who was caught out of position.
Roy, who has allowed just four goals in his last four games, recorded 28 saves. Steve Shields stopped 18 shots for the Bruins, who have just one win in their last eight meetings with Colorado (1-5-1-1).
