VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Jason Chimera
completed his team's second comeback of the game at 5:40 of the third period Thursday night to lift Edmonton into a 3-3 tie with Vancouver.
After being sidelined 13 games with a broken left heel, Ed Jovanovski returned to the Canucks' lineup without missing a beat, but the All-Star defenseman watched Vancouver squander two leads and settle for the tie.
With five points in his previous three games, Chimera scored his third goal in two contests early in the third period to help Edmonton avoid its fourth loss to the Canucks in as many meetings this season.
Defensemen Eric Brewer and Scott Ferguson added tallies for the Oilers, who moved a point ahead of idle Minnesota for second place in the Northwest Division.
Trevor Linden, Henrik Sedin and Todd Bertuzzi netted goals for the Canucks, who remained unbeaten against Edmonton this season (3
1), and moved to 23
4 when leading after two periods.
