AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Jody Conradt became the second coach in women's basketball history to win 800 career games Wednesday night as No. 16 Texas posted a 69-58 Big 12 Conference victory over No. 7 Texas Tech.
Conradt, who recorded her 500th career win against the Lady Raiders in 1988, improved her all-time record to 800-262 over 34 seasons.
Conradt joins Pat Summitt of Tennessee as the only women's coaches to reach the 800-win club. Summitt posted her 800th career win in a victory over DePaul on Jan. 14.
Stacy Stephens had 20 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the Longhorns (12-4, 5-0 Big 12), who led the entire game but needed eight free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Heather Schreiber added 15 points and 15 rebounds for Texas, which improved to 10-0 at home this season.
Plenette Pierson and Jia Perkins each scored 16 points for Texas Tech (15-2, 4-1 Big 12), which trailed by seven at halftime despite holding the Longhorns to 25 percent shooting.
Erin Grant contributed nine points, six assists and three steals for the Lady Raiders, who had their 15-game winning streak snapped.
