ATLANTA, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Thrashers placed right wing Shawn McEachern on injured reserve Thursday, retroactive to Monday, and recalled left Jeff Farkas from Chicago of the American Hockey League.
The 33-year-old McEachern suffered a groin strain on Sunday against the New York Islanders and left in the second period. He is fourth on the Thrashers in scoring with 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points.

Farkas, who was acquired from Vancouver on Monday and turns 25 Friday, was recalled from Chicago just two days after he was assigned there. The New York native has notched 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) in 38 games for Manitoba of the AHL.
