Amy Frazier to play for title

HOBART, Australia, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Second-seeded Amy Frazier of the United States and Australian Alicia Molik advanced to the final Thursday at the Moorilla International.

The 30-year-old Frazier ousted fourth seed Elena Likhovtseva of Russia, 6-3, 6-4, to reach her first final since the Japan Open in 2000.

The American is in search of her seventh career title and her first since the Japan Open in 1999.

Molik reached her first career WTA final with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory over unseeded Czech Iveta Benesova.

The 21-year-old Australian has played well thus far in 2003 defeating three higher-ranked players at the Hopman Cup before losing to world No. 1 Serena Williams in the final.
