Missouri 88, Iowa 82

IOWA CITY, Iowa, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Ricky Clemons banked in his sixth three-pointer of the game with 78 seconds left and scored 27 points Saturday to lift the 16th-ranked Missouri Tigers to an 88-82 victory over Iowa.

Clemons scored 14 points in the first half and his six three-pointers were a season high. Missouri (8-1) was clinging to an 80-78 lead after Iowa's Jared Reiner made a pair from the line with just under two minutes left.

The Tigers worked the ball around the perimeter as they were willing to run down the shot clock. Clemons finally began his move 30 feet from the basket, pulled up from 22 feet and his shot seemed to be way off. But it banged off the glass and rattled home for a five-point cushion.

Arthur Johnson added 16 points for Missouri, including a pair of baskets that provided an 80-75 lead with 2:47 to go. He made seven of 13 shots.

Iowa (8-3) fell to 0-2 against Big 12 Conference opponents following a loss to Iowa State on Dec. 13.
