SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Mike Modano recorded a goal and an assist Thursday night and Marty Turco made 23 saves as Dallas opened up a three-game road trip with a 3-1 victory over San Jose.

Defenseman Philippe Boucher and Jason Arnott also scored for the Stars, who extended their unbeaten streak to four games (3


1) and improved to 9-9-6 on the road.

Dallas took advantage of San Jose's struggles on special teams, scoring twice on the power play and once while shorthanded.

Defenseman Mike Rathje notched his career-high sixth goal and Evgeni Nabokov turned aside 20 shots for the Sharks, who had their five-game home unbeaten streak (4


1) come to an end.

San Jose went 0-for-4 on the power play, stretching its scoreless streak on the man advantage to 21 chances.
