
CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Senior guard Sean Harrington sank six 3-pointers Monday night as No. 12 Illinois rolled past Coppin State, 63-37.
Harrington hit his first shot from beyond the arc just 28 seconds into the game and the Illini (9-1) kept on the pressure, holding the Eagles under 20 points in each half.
Harrington's six 3-pointers tied a career high he set on Dec. 3 against North Carolina and accounted for all of his 18 points. He has shot 25-of-48 from beyond the arc this season.
Forward Brian Cook led Illinois with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting. The Illini shot 51 percent (22-of-43) from the floor.
Illinois extended its non-conference home winning streak to 25 games, while Coppin State (1-9) lost for the eighth time in nine road games this season.
Larry Tucker led the Eagles with 15 points on 5-of-15 shooting. Coppin State shot just 29 percent (12-of-41) from the field.
