
HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Ben Gordon scored 24 points and Tony Robertson added 19 as the No. 6 Connecticut Huskies rolled Saturday to a 93-65 victory over Central Connecticut State for its 46th straight victory over an intrastate opponent.
The game was the first between Huskies coach Jim Calhoun and former assistant Howie Dickenman, who is in his seventh year with the Blue Devils. Dickenman spent 10 years as Calhoun's top assistant at Storrs before leaving for Central.
Connecticut (8-0) built a 47-27 halftime lead behind 15 points from Emeka Okafor. The sophomore center finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds for his eighth straight double-double to start the season.
Taliek Brown converted a free throw and Gordon scored seven straight points to open the second half. Gordon's three-point play made it 55-27.
Central Connecticut (3-4) fell to 0-11 against Connecticut. It was the first meeting between the two schools since 1986.
