DENVER, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- The Colorado Rockies Tuesday acquired pitcher Nelson Cruz from the Houston Astros.
Cruz, a righthander, adds depth to the Rockies' staff. The Astros get minor league outfielder Victor Hall.
Cruz, 30, spent the last two seasons with the Astros, working primarily in middle relief last season. He posted a 2-6 record with a 4.48 ERA in 43 games, including five starts, allowing 90 hits in 78 1/3 innings.
Before going to Houston, Cruz spent one season with Detroit. He has a career record of 12-18 with a 4.64 ERA in 184 games.
Hall, 22, was drafted by Colorado in Monday's Rule V draft. A 12th-round pick by Arizona in 1998, Hall is a career .278 hitter in 442 minor league games.
