St. Louis 2, Ottawa 2 (OT)

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Fred Brathwaite made 18 of his 30 saves over the final 25 minutes Thursday night as the St. Louis Blues settled for a 2-2 tie with the Ottawa Senators.

With No. 1 goalie Brent Johnson slated to return soon from a season-long ankle injury, Brathwaite turned in his second straight stellar performance. After blanking high-powered Boston on Tuesday, he was outstanding again against the Senators.

Although he squandered a chance for the win when he allowed Marian Hossa's league-leading 16th goal with 66 seconds remaining in regulation, Brathwaite recovered to stop Martin Havlat, Magnus Arvedson, Todd White and defenseman Zdeno Chara on breakaways in overtime.

Among five goalies used this season by Blues Coach Joel Quenneville, the 30-year-old Brathwaite is 10-4-2 in his second season with St. Louis.

Defenseman Chris Phillips had the other goal for Ottawa, which is unbeaten in 11 of its last 12 games (8-1-3).

Doug Weight and Scott Mellanby scored power-play goals for the Blues.
