Mavericks release Mark Strickland

DALLAS, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- The Dallas Mavericks, who fell one game short of matching the best start in NBA history, Friday waived reserve forward Mark Strickland.

Strickland was used sparingly by the Mavericks, playing in only four games. He averaged just 1.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest.

Dallas was able to sign Strickland under the NBA's hardship rule, which allows a team to add a player if it has three other players on the injured list.

The Mavericks had their 14-game winning streak snapped Thursday night with a 110-98 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
