Marlins sign righthander Borland

MIAMI, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The Florida Marlins Monday announced the signing of eight players to minor league contracts, including veteran righthander Toby Borland.

Borland split time between the Marlins and the Triple-A Calgary Cannons last season. He went 1-0 with a 5.27 ERA in 15 games for Florida and is 10-8 with a 4.17 ERA and eight saves in 182 major league appearances.

The Marlins also signed righthanders Rick Croushore and Allen Levrault, who also own major league experience. The journeyman Croushore is 5-11 with 11 saves and a 4.88 ERA in 111 games with St. Louis, Colorado and Boston. Levrault is 6-11 with a 5.93 ERA in 37 games, including 21 starts.

Outfielders Chad Allen, Robert Stratton and Chris Wakeland and catchers Paul Hoover and Matt Treanor also signed with Florida.
