Vancouver 5; Chicago 3

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Trevor Linden and Matt Cooke beat Chicao goaltender Steve Passmore on two of the first three shots he faced, sending the Vancouver Canucks on the way to their fifth straight win, a 5-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Markus Naslund scored two of the Canucks' three power-play goals and set up the other as Vancouver improved to 4-0 on a five-game homestand.

Passmore had not played since Nov. 2, watching red-hot Jocelyn Thibault make eight consecutive starts. He showed the rust as Linden opened the scoring 14 seconds into the game and Cooke added a shorthanded goal less than three minutes later.

Linden's goal was his 262nd as a Canuck, moving him into a tie with Stan Smyl for the all-time lead.

Chicago's penalty-killing unit was ranked fourth in the NHL, but surrendered three goals in nine chances against a Vancouver team that has eight power-play goals on its homestand.
