NY Rangers 3, Anaheim 2 (OT)

NEW YORK, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Pavel Bure picked a good time to snap out of his funk Tuesday night, scoring 57 seconds into overtime to give the New York Rangers a 3-2 triumph over the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

A five-time 50-goal scorer, Bure went nine games without hitting the net before scoring off a brilliant rush to give the Rangers their fifth win in seven games (5

2) and second straight home overtime victory.

Bure went from zone to zone for his eighth goal, racing past a trio of Ducks along the right boards before getting to the faceoff dot, warding off a check and putting the puck through Jean-Sebastien Giguere's pads.

Eric Lindros also ended a prolonged slump and Mark Messier scored his team-best ninth goal, helping the Rangers win without coach Bryan Trottier, who was nursing a bad back.

New York is 3

0 without Trottier, the rookie coach who was suspended for two games on a recent 2-2-0 road trip.

Lindros went 17 games without a goal before giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead with 7:29 left in the first period. Messier opened the scoring just 2:19 into the game.

The Ducks tied it during a dominating second period, when they totaled 22 shots, a season-high for any period. But they managed just two the rest of the way to finish a 2-3-0 road trip.

New York improved to 3

2 in overtime this season.
