Texas 27, Nebraska 24

LINCOLN, Neb., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Nathan Vasher intercepted a Jammal Lord pass at the Nebraska one-yard line with 10 seconds remaining Saturday night as seventh-ranked Texas ended the Cornhuskers' 26-game home winning streak, 27-24.

Chris Simms passed for a career-high 419 yards and two touchdowns for the Longhorns (8-1, 4-1 Big 12 South), who had also handed the Cornhuskers their last home loss, 20-16, in 1998.

Enduring a disappointing season, the Cornhuskers (6-4, 2-4 Big 12 North) nearly rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth to keep the streak going.

With under a minute remaining, DeJuan Groce returned a punt 43 yards to the Texas 16. Two plays later, Lord lofted a pass down the right sideline into double coverage. Vasher made a leaping catch to preserve the win.
