Allison, who was placed on injured reserve, will begin rehab immediately.

He suffered the injury to his right knee during the first period of Tuesday night's game against the Atlanta Thrashers. In nine games this season, Allison, 27, leads the Kings in scoring with 11 points and also has 10 penalty minutes.

"I'm disappointed with what's happened, but there was a chance it could have been worse," Allison told the Los Angeles Daily News Thursday. "So there is some positive to take from this. And I look forward to getting back to the lineup."

The Kings recalled center Steve Kelly from the Manchester Monarchs to take Allison's spot on the roster.
