
ALBUQUERQUE, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Justin Millea's one-yard run in the second overtime Saturday lifted New Mexico to a 42-35 victory over Mountain West Conference rival Utah.
New Mexico tied the game at 28-28 with 46 seconds left in regulation on Casey Kelly's two-yard touchdown run.
In the first overtime, Utah's Brett Elliott threw a six-yard touchdown pass to J.D. Jorgensen for his fourth scoring toss of the game. But Kelly, who passed for two touchdowns and rushed for two more, ran it in from 19 yards out to tie the game at 35-35.
After New Mexico stopped Utah in the second overtime, the Lobos took seven plays to punch it into the end zone and notch a homecoming triumph.
Dontrell Moore ran for 163 yards and one touchdown for New Mexico (4-5, 2-1 MWC), which outgained Utah on the ground, 268 yards to 89.
In his third start, Elliott connected on 26 of 39 attempts for a career-high 440 yards. Utah (2-6, 0-4) dropped its sixth consecutive game.
Josh Lyman had 147 receiving yards and one touchdown and Paris Jackson 138 and a score in the loss.
Utah took a 28-14 lead on Elliott's 26-yard pass to Devin Houston with 6:46 to play in the second quarter, but on the next play from scrimmage, Kelly hit Dwight Counter for an 80-yard strike. Neither team scored again until Kelly's run in the final minute of regulation.
