Rain wipes out Busch qualifying

HAMPTON, Ga., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Rain canceled the NASCAR Busch Grand National series qualifying Friday, forcing the grid for Saturday's Aaron 312 to be determined by the season-long point standings.

Light and steady rain delayed the start of on-track activity at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for more than three hours. NASCAR officials begin drying the track just after 12:30 p.m. EDT, but waited on the weather forecast to decide on a revised schedule.

Practice for Saturday's race was to have started at 10 a.m., with the qualifying set for 1:45 p.m. Practice and qualifying for the NASCAR event also was scheduled at the track.

Series leader Greg Biffle will start Saturday's race from the pole in his Ford Taurus. He owns a 105-point advantage over Jason Keller with four races remaining.

Keller will start from the second spot, followed by Jeff Green, last week's winner Scott Wimmer, Jack Sprague, and Mike McLaughlin. Kenny Wallace, Jamie McMurray, Scott Riggs and Bobby Hamilton Jr. round out the top 10 qualifiers.
