BUFFALO, N.Y., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Defenseman Ken Daneyko recorded his first regular season goal in more than 3 1/2 years and Sergei Brylin got the game-winner a minute into the third period Friday night as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Buffalo Sabres, 2-1.

An 18-year veteran, Daneyko's last regular season goal came on Feb. 9, 1999 against Vancouver, an NHL-record interval of 256 games.

Brylin's third goal and goaltender Martin Brodeur's 23 saves helped snap New Jersey's five-game winless skid at HSBC Arena (0-4-1).

Stu Barnes knotted the contest at 1-1 nearly six minutes into the second period for the Sabres, who are winless in four of their last five games (1-3-1).
