BUFFALO, N.Y., Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Miroslav Satan scored midway through the third period Tuesday night to snap a tie and lift the Buffalo Sabres to a 2-1 victory Philadelphia to end the Flyers' five-game unbeaten streak.

After eliminating the Flyers in the first round of the 2000-01 playoffs, Buffalo swept the four-game series last season, outscoring Philadelphia 11-4. Satan netted six goals, including two game-winners, and assisted on two others to lead the way for the Sabres.

Flyers defenseman Eric Weinrich, who scored his first goal in 24 regular-season games in the second period to forge a 1-1 tie, committed a costly turnover in his own zone in the third, giving the puck right to Satan, who wristed a shot that beat goaltender Roman Cechmanek to the stick side and gave Buffalo the lead.

Vaclav Varada also scored for the Sabres while Martin Biron turned away 21 shots to improve to 5-2-1 lifetime against Philadelphia.

The loss by the Flyers left Tampa Bay as the only team in the league without a defeat (4
