Thrashers put Krupp on injured list

ATLANTA, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Atlanta Thrashers injury-plagued defenseman Uwe Krupp, who has missed the last two games with back spasms, was placed on the injured reserve list Friday.

The move is retroactive to Sunday. The Thrashers also activated defenseman Chris Tamer from injured reserve.

Krupp, who missed much of the past three seasons due to injury, was signed by Atlanta as an unrestricted free agent on July 19.

The 37-year-old won the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings last season, when he registered just two penalty minutes in two playoff games.

Currently in his 14th NHL season, Krupp entered the 2002-03 campaign with 69 goals and 212 assists in 725 games for Buffalo, the New York Islanders, the Quebec-Colorado franchise and Detroit.

Tamer, 31, was sidelined for the opening three games with a back injury. He led the club last season with 130 hits in 78 games, most among the team's defensemen.
