AUBURN, Ala., Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Fred Talley rushed for a career-high 241 yards and returned a kick for a touchdown Saturday as the Arkansas Razorbacks surprised No. 21 Auburn, 38-17.

Arkansas (3-2, 1-2 SEC West) bounced back from last week's disappointment, when it fell to Tennessee in six overtimes -- the second-longest game in NCAA history. The Razorbacks defeated Mississippi in seven overtimes last season.

After Carnell "Cadillac" Williams gave Auburn (4-2, 2-1 SEC West) a 17-14 lead on a nine-yard run with 1:50 to go in the second quarter, Talley returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to put the Razorbacks ahead for good.

Mark Pierce and quarterback Matt Jones added second-half touchdown runs to help the Razorbacks defeat the Tigers for the fourth time in five meetings.

Jones both rushed and passed for 66 yards. Daniel Cobb was 13 of 23 for 225 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Auburn, which was coming off a bye week following a three-overtime victory over Syracuse, failed in its quest to begin SEC play 3-0 for the third straight year.
