Jeff Burton wins Busch race

KANSAS CITY, Kan., Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Having a modest Winston Cup season by his standards, Jeff Burton ran away from the field Saturday to capture the Mr. Goodcents 300 for his fourth Busch series victory of the year.

In just 11 races this season, Burton is tied for the series lead in wins with regulars and championship contenders Greg Biffle and Jason Keller. He has won 19 career races on the junior circuit.

Kerry Earnhardt was passed by Burton's Ford Taurus with 29 laps left and settled for second, his best career Busch series finish. Driving a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Earnhardt held the lead for the first time in a Busch race.

Joe Nemechek was third, also in a Chevrolet.

Biffle was stuck in traffic early in the 200-lap race but worked his way through to finish fourth and stretch his lead to 127 points over Keller, who retired on lap 169 with engine problems and placed 30th.

Tony Raines rounded out the top five.
