ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Brad Fullmer's two-out, two-run triple capped a seven-run sixth inning Saturday as the Anaheim Angels cruised to an 8-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
Fullmer, who is batting .365 in September, crushed his sixth triple of the season to deep center field.
An error in the sixth by Mariners rookie shortstop Luis Ugueto hurt starter Ryan Franklin (7-5), who gave up eight runs, but just two earned, and 12 hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Fullmer opened the sixth with a single and Scott Spiezio reached on Ugueto's error, sparking the big inning.
Anaheim rookie starter Mickey Callaway (2-1) did not allow a run until the seventh. The righthander yielded three runs and eight hits in eight innings. He struck out six and walked two.
Despite his solid outing, Callaway was informed after the game that he will not be included on Anaheim's postseason roster. Veteran lefthanded reliever Dennis Cook also was left off.
Instead, rookie righthander Francisco Rodriguez, who has not allowed a run in 5 2/3 innings of relief since making his major league debut at Oakland on Sept. 18, was named to the first-round starter.
Scott Podsednik belted a solo shot in the ninth -- his first career home run -- for the Mariners, who lost for only the second time in seven games.
