Rams LB Polley out three weeks

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- The St. Louis Rams, off to an 0-3 start, got some more bad news on Tuesday when they learned starting outside linebacker Tommy Polley would be sidelined for three weeks due to a torn groin muscle.

Polley was hurt during Monday night's 26-14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that kept the defending NFC champions winless.

One of the Rams' fastest players on defense, Polley emerged as a starter midway through his rookie campaign in 2001. He finished with 85 tackles in 14 regular-season games and had a team-leading 11 tackles in the NFC championship game victory over Philadelphia.

Rookie Courtland Bullard out of Ohio State is listed behind Polley on the depth chart. But the Rams will likely shift veteran Don Davis to Polley's spot on the outside.

St. Louis hosts Dallas (1-2) on Sunday.
