Atlanta 5, Nashville 4

ATLANTA, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- After a wild second period, Tomi Kallio scored a pair of power-play goals 2:40 apart in the third Tuesday to lift the Atlanta Thrashers to a 5-4 preseason victory over the Nashville Predators.

Kallio lifted Atlanta into a 4-4 tie with his first goal of the preseason at 12:03 of the third. He snapped the tie by putting his own rebound past rookie goaltender Jan Lasak.

Rookie Pasi Nurminen made 26 saves for Atlanta, which was routed, 8-1, by Tampa Bay in its preseason opener on Friday.
