Philadelphia 4, Cincinnati 3

CINCINNATI, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Bobby Abreu and Brandon Duckworth spoiled the Cincinnati Reds' final game at Cinergy Field Sunday, lifting the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-3 victory.

Abreu went two for four with a run scored and an RBI, extending his hitting streak to 16 games. The right fielder also stole two bases, bringing his season total to 29.

Duckworth (7-9) scattered seven hits over seven innings, allowing two runs. The righthander walked one and struck out six.

Jose Mesa pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to set a team record with his 44th save. Mesa also recorded saves in both ends of Saturday's day-night doubleheader.

Jose Rijo (5-4) allowed three runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. When he left as part of a double switch with Barry Larkin, the Cincinnati fans gave a standing ovation to two heroes of the 1990 World Series champions.

The game was followed by a closing ceremony for the stadium, which included the transfer of home plate to the Reds' new stadium. Cincinnati will open the Great American Ball Park next season.

Aaron Boone went three for four with a homer, two RBI and two stolen bases. Boone's home run was the last in the stadium's history and made him the seventh player in Reds history to accumulate 25 homers and 25 steals in the same season.

The Reds closed Cinergy Field with four consecutive losses.
